Volkswagen of South Africa in 2007 launched its commercial vehicles into South Africa. Representation and implementation of this commercial brand nationwide provided a challenge as truck facilities were not readily available. The construction of new dealerships remained unviable for the interim period due to its premier launch to the country.

Upgrading of existing facilities remained the only alternative of introduction and the speedy implantation across South Africa. Volkswagen Commercial East London was one such dealership. The conversion of an old Nestle facility into a commercial truck sales and service centre provided some challenges. The chocolate factories services had to be changed in its entirety; service pits excavated, floor surfaces changed to accommodate heavy vehicles. Lighting increased and multiple vehicle access created.

The original factory headroom with natural light was perfect for the workshop area; however concrete beams had to be rebuilt for better clearance to roller shutter doors. The façade required upgrading and the provision of shopfront installed for the showroom display.
