This building originally housed the Head Office for Mercedes Benz South Africa. The new owners required that the single tenant building be converted into a multi tenant building allowing for a mixed use in tenancy from office space to industrial workshops. The brief was to upgrade all common areas such as the main entrance and reception area, lift lobbies by adding new lifts, toilet block upgrade and provision of new facilities, provision for disabled access and where possible to increase the amount of lettable space.

The design had to allow for a hard wearing environment but elevate the status of the office building to that of an A Grade facility. Granite surfaces with modern inlay designs and contemporary finishes to ablutions where chosen. New stainless steel lift cars and glass and steel entrance canopy bring the building into the twenty first century. The exterior of the building was to be re-finished in a vibrant colour emphasising its prominence as the tallest building in the area.
