Alchemy Architects were asked to undertake a feasibility study for the upgrade of an existing 80’s office building in the heart of Sandton. The key brief was to convert a multi storey, multi tenant building into a single occupying tenant accommodating the companies administrative head office. The buildings façade required a contemporary facelift suitable to the company’s image and status. Enlarging and upgrading of the reception area to allow for meeting rooms and adequate security. A new staff canteen had to be provided for within the building without the loss of valuable office space.

It was proposed that the buildings existing open to air atrium be enclosed so as to accommodate the new staff canteen and kitchen. The lift core was then opened to the atrium providing a visual connection from each office floor directly into the atrium.
