The clients brief insisted that the existing swimming pool forming part of the new sub divisible property not be demolished. The 3 existing large trees are to be retained and the slope of the ground accommodated within the overall design. A country style home utilising face-brick exterior with a pitched tiled roof would to form the basis of the scheme.
The house was designed primarily around the existing trees as individual pavilions. This allowed for the terracing of each pavilion to the varying ground levels. The first pavilion accommodates the double garage with a covered open link to the main house. The central pavilion providing the living areas of galley styled kitchen and floating dining area. The open plan lounge then overlooks a timber deck onto the existing swimming pool.
The third pavilion accommodating the bedrooms is linked to the central pavilion via a glazed passage opening up on a timber deck surrounding the largest of the existing trees. The overall design of this small home is focused around nature and allowing both nature into the house as well as a link to nature from within.
